Taylor, Nigel John (guitar)
Nigel John Taylor was born on June 20th, 1960 in Birmingham, England. Unlike his later image he was a shy boy with terrible eyesight. His first band was "Shock Treatment" where David Twist, later of The Hawks, was lead vocalist. In the Birmingham group merry-go-round John then got together with a 16 year old Nick Rhodes and an 18 year old Stephen to form Duran Duran. After Stephen left there was a swan like transformation ditching the glasses for contact lenses and for many JT was the group's Heart-Throb. In 1985 John formed a side project with fellow Durannie Andy Taylor and the late Robert Palmer. The Power Station was a moderate success to match the LeBon / Rhodes sideshow "Arcadia". The pressures of a failed marriage and continued, but successful, battles with a previous cocaine and alcohol addition led to John leaving Duran in 1997. However the force was strong with this one and John returned to the Duran fold in 2001 and has been with them ever since recording new material on a fairly regular basis. |
