the lilac times

"The Lilac Times" was a series of newsletters (1 to 12) sent by The Lilac Time to their fans between 1989 and 1994. They all originated from PO Box2 in Bromyard which was the Lilac Time fan club address. Most of them were two pages, with beautiful artwork and illustrations by Nick Duffy. They all contained information about upcoming albums or tours, reviews, trivia etc. and were well loved by fans all over the world. It has been commented upon by Norma, Stephen and Nick's mom, how many dozens of fans used to send in stamps and International Reply Coupons just to keep the issues coming.

Some parts were officially written by Stephen and/or Nick, but there also were contributions from "guest writers" like one Lashonda Fontenelle, Peter Perturbed or "friend of The Lilac Time" Dean Spence. We believe that some, if not all of these guest writers did not really exist and were either Stephen (Dean Spence = DS, Stephen Duffy = SD) or Nick incognito. Nick has so far refused to comment on our suspicion, but we will keep nagging him until he proves their existence or admits they were fake.

We are delighted to have these newsletters in pdf format on our site. Most of them come courtesy of Nick Duffy, who scanned them when he was looking for artwork for the reissues of the first three Lilac Time albums. Issue 4 and the still to be scanned issue 1 have been supplied by Markus Bleutge, Kevin Goodall sent issue 12. The copyright resides with The Lilac Time, so don't even think about printing and selling them!
